My wife was seen by a large group in South Jersey. Since her pregnancy was high-risk, she was also monitored by the Maternal Fetal Medicine at the hospital. Towards the end of the pregnancy, the MFM informed us and the OB that she had a placenta accreta. Her OB then sent her to another OB, who had experience in the area and scheduled my wife’s cesarean for 1 week later. My wife’s friend had known Dr. Hakimi for years and asked her to see him. He saw us right away. After doing an ultrasound, he advised us to go to the hospital for immediate delivery. Luckily, we did. The uterus was ruptured upon entry. After delivering my second child, I began experiencing heavy bleeding just a few days postpartum. I was losing a lot of blood and quickly called an ambulance. I was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where everything quickly became overwhelming.

In the ER, multiple ob residents and ob hospitalists evaluated me and urgently recommended surgery—including a hysterectomy. I was devastated.
